SINGAPORE – Not less than 104 victims have fallen prey to scams involving social media ads since January 2024, with losses amounting over $63,000.
The police mentioned in a press release on March 28 that these scams would function promotions for closely discounted items on social media platforms comparable to Instagram, Fb and TikTok.
Enticed by the engaging costs, the victims could be directed to fraudulent web sites that request for his or her particulars comparable to their financial institution card particulars, and One-Time Passwords (OTP) so as to try the gadgets they’d “bought”.
