London: Former US President Barack Obama dropped in for an unannounced casual assembly with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at 10 Downing Road in London on Monday.
Obama waved at photographers as he entered the well-known black door for what Downing Road officers later described as a “courtesy drop in” for a chat within the UK PM’s research. The agenda for the hour-long assembly was not revealed however it’s probably the Russian re-election of President Vladimir Putin and the battle in Ukraine might have featured of their discussions.
“He was making a casual courtesy drop-in as a part of his journey to London, the place he’s conducting work of the Obama Basis,” a Downing Road spokesperson stated.
“I believe President Obama’s staff made contact and clearly the Prime Minister was very pleased to fulfill with him and talk about the work of the Obama Basis,” the spokesperson stated.
This marks Obama’s first go to to Downing Road since he left the White Home after his two phrases as US President, between 2009 and 2017. The 62-year-old Democrat based the Chicago-based Obama Basis with a mission to “encourage, empower, and join individuals to alter their world”.
The assembly between Obama and Sunak is believed to be the primary time the pair have met. Obama was seen leaving Downing Road round an hour later with the US ambassador to the UK, Jane Hartley, and smiled at reporters as he quipped that he was “tempted” when requested to talk.
