Blenheim roads reopen as bush fire extinguished

Hearth crews have extinguished a vegetation fireplace in Blenheim that triggered the closure of two roads.

Hearth and Emergency NZ shift supervisor Lyn Crosson stated numerous calls a couple of bush fireplace close to the Ōpaoa River had been acquired about 1.15pm.

She stated two fireplace vans from Blenheim had been despatched to the scene and on arrival discovered a 50m² vegetation fireplace.

A water tanker from Blenheim was additionally despatched to the scene to assist battle the fireplace, she stated.

Dillons Level Rd and Lane St had been closed as a result of fireplace, police stated in a press release.

However about 2.50pm, police confirmed the roads had reopened.

A Hearth and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson stated the fireplace was extinguished by 2.15pm and no homes had been affected.

The reason for the fireplace was not but recognized, they stated.
