Cambodia eyes Unesco heritage status for 7 tangible and 3 intangible cultural properties

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet introduced plans on March 31 to appoint seven tangible and three intangible cultural properties for inscription on Unesco’s prestigious world heritage checklist.

The seven properties for which tangible cultural heritage standing is to be sought are the previous M-13 jail, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Choeung Ek Genocidal Centre; Banteay Chhmar Temple; the positioning of Angkor Borei and Phnom Da; Preah Attain Troap Mountain historic website; Preah Khan Kampong Svay Temple; Beng Mealea Temple and Kulen Mountain historic resort, he mentioned.

The three properties deliberate for the intangible cultural heritage of humanity checklist are the Cambodian Songkran, conventional woven scarf krama and the Khmer wedding ceremony custom, he added.
