From well-known footballer to aspiring movie star: it’s a path that’s surprisingly effectively trodden. The most recent former participant to delve into the world of performing is ex-Arsenal and England star, and Match of the Day pundit Ian Wright, who seems in Daniel Kaluuya’s directorial debut The Kitchen.
Within the dystopian drama, which arrives on Netflix on Friday, Wright performs the host of a pirate radio station who serves because the voice of the local people. In keeping with Kaluuya (who occurs to be a large Arsenal fan), Wright didn’t get fast-tracked into the position: he needed to audition like every other hopeful. His efficiency has already garnered some fairly constructive reactions, which isn’t precisely widespread within the pantheon of footballers turned thespians.
