Shadow Indigenous Affairs Minister Jacinta Worth has continued to name for NT Deputy Chief Minister Chansey Paech to resign following revelations he held shares in an alcohol distribution firm.
On Tuesday, the Northern Territory impartial revealed Mr Paech, who drove the federal government’s resolution to raise alcohol bans in Alice Springs, had shared in Metcash – an organization that distributes alcohol in Alice Springs.
“He is morally bankrupt,” Ms Worth informed Sky Information Australia.
“Evidently, he bought these shares two months previous to arguing to raise the alcohol restrictions … that has a direct relationship to that decision-making.
“The lifting of these alcohol bans, I imply, that created absolute destruction in our communities, and I can not consider simply how disgraceful his actions and his behaviour are as he is now making an attempt to carry on to his job.”
