Nigel Farage has raged at a “disturbing hard-left appointment” after a UK college recruited a Palestinian Rector.
Dr Ghassan Abu-Sittah, a distinguished plastic surgeon, was elected Glasgow College’s new Rector in a landslide election on April 11.
The Glasgow alumnus obtained 80 p.c of the vote and advised individuals in a triumphant speech that they need to “plan for the therapeutic of the injuries of Gaza tomorrow”.
Whereas his appointment was hailed as a victory amongst pro-Palestinian voices within the UK, Mr Farage has led Conservative outrage. In a put up on social media, the previous Reform UK boss branded UK universities a “shame”.
Dr Abu-Sittah’s appointment was celebrated as a “proud second” for fellow Palestinians, who devoted his victory to the greater than 40,000 individuals who have died in Gaza.
The surgeon quoted former IRA member Bobby Sands in his speech, stating: “Our revenge would be the laughter of our youngsters.”
However Mr Farage mentioned the Rector’s new place was “disturbing” whereas posting on X, previously often called Twitter.
He wrote: “It is a deeply disturbing hard-left appointment. Our universities are a shame.”
Some individuals agreed with Mr Farage within the feedback, with one person saying the appointment was “not surprising”.
They added it was “worrying”, and a second person mentioned the information was “completely surprising”.
Others have been much less supportive of the previous UKIP chief, with some mentioning there was no proof of the Physician holding “far-left” views.
Some even criticised the politician-turned-television presenter for “pushing cancel tradition”.
One mentioned: “What occurred to ‘free speech’ Farage? Cease pushing cancel tradition, it’d come again to gag hard-right speech like yours subsequent.”
One other added: “Hey everybody, apparently it is now ‘onerous left’ to be a surgeon who reattaches limbs to kids.”
