The presence of Kupendra Reddy, a rich businessman, as JDS candidate within the electoral fray has disturbed the peace of prime Congress leaders, particularly, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president DK Shivakumar.
He had, on Monday, accused JDS chief HD Kumaraswamy of constructing “presents” to Congress MLAs to affect them to vote for his get together candidate within the February 27 polls.
The Congress has even filed a criticism with the Vidhana Soudha police accusing the Opposition events of making an attempt to lure its MLAs with presents of bribes for voting for the JDS candidate within the RS polls.
Reddy has emerged as NDA’s shock fifth candidate. If not for him, the 4 candidates would have gained unopposed.
The Congress is assured of securing the total assist of its 135 MLAs, and three independents to get its three candidates via. There are solely 4 RS vacancies in Karnataka, and the BJP and Congress have fielded one and three candidates, respectively. The JDS has maintained that it has fielded Reddy to not let the NDA’s surplus votes go waste. AICC chief Ajay Maken and sitting Rajya Sabha members GC Chandrashekar and Syed Naseer Hussain are contesting from the Congress whereas the BJP has fielded former MLC Narayansa Bhandage. A candidate wants 45 votes to win.
