Cleveland policing report: Consent decree

CLEVELAND (WJW) – A report on Cleveland policing reveals “little progress.”

The 14th Cleveland Police Monitoring Crew Semiannual Report appears at whether or not the Cleveland Division of Police (CDP) is working throughout the U.S. Structure and federal regulation.

The CDP has been underneath a consent decree since 2015, following a Division of Justice ruling that CDP used extreme pressure and doubtlessly violated the Structure.

The consent decree requires the division to make adjustments to insurance policies and procedures to enhance how the Cleveland neighborhood is policed.

Within the report that examined June 2023 to December 2023, the monitoring crew stated the Cleveland police division has been downgraded for the reason that final report interval.
