Toronto Raptors guard RJ Barrett is mourning the demise of his youthful brother, Nathan Barrett.
The Barrett household stated in a press release that Nathan died Tuesday. The assertion, launched Thursday by the Raptors and Canada Basketball, didn’t disclose a reason behind demise or Nathan’s age.
RJ and Nathan’s father, Rowan Barrett, is Canada Basketball’s normal supervisor.
“Whereas our household is devastated by this nice loss, we’ll proceed to cherish the recollections and time spent collectively,” the assertion stated.
“Nathan was a God-fearing younger man of sturdy character. He was considerate, sort, loving, compassionate, inventive, admirable and pushed.”
RJ Barrett, who’s second on the Raptors in scoring at 19.5 factors per sport, didn’t play in Wednesday’s loss at Detroit.
Like his brother, Nathan performed highschool basketball at Montverde Academy in Florida. RJ went on to play one season at Duke earlier than declaring for the NBA draft. He was chosen No. 3 general by the New York Knicks in 2019.
